On June 4, 2016, the Ascend LA Metro Chapter hosted their Inspiring Across Generations (IAG) gala with the theme to “Defy Perceptions. Dare to Dream!” The IAG drew over 260 individuals who represented 60 organizations. Guests were inspired to challenge perceptions and to chase their aspirations.
The IAG began with two engaging concurrent sessions. The first session on “Effective Negotiations for ‘Win-Win’ Outcomes” was led by Thomas Phelps IV, Laserfiche VP of Corporate Strategy & CIO, along with panelists Greg Choi, PwC Tax Principal, and David Ho, Fullscreen General Counsel & EVP. The second session on “Diversity to Drive Innovation” was led by Fred Tan, Grant Thornton Tax Director. Panelists included leaders from Deloitte Consulting, Grant Thornton, KPMG and EY. The afternoon sessions were followed by engaging activities—including professional headshots—during the networking reception hour.
The evening gala was kicked off with high energy by Karen Chung, Chair; Joyce Li, Vice Chair; and Thomas Phelps IV, President. Next, California State Treasurer John Chiang inspired the audience as a guest speaker. Attendees also heard personal stories from Harrison Tang, Spokeo CEO, Alan Yu, Lollicup Co-Founder, and Lourdes Teh, Disney ABC TV Group Senior Manager. The memorable night was capped off with awards, including the Inspiring Leader Award presented to Sheena Lam, Ascend LA Metro EVP.
